How Bows Are Taking Over 2024 Weddings: A Trendsetter's Guide

This year expect to see bows everywhere!  From big statement pieces on dresses or veils through to elegant details on chairs and glassware, bows are IN for weddings in 2024 and we’re so here for it.

The great thing about this trend is that you can incorporate bow details in so many different ways for your wedding.  If you’re a maximalist like me, then grab every opportunity to put a bow on it!  Fondant bow on the cake? Yes! Velvet bows wrapped around candlesticks? Go for it! A beautiful bow in your hair instead of a veil? Absolutely!

Minimalist bride? Don’t worry, we’ve got you babe.  For a simple nod to the bow trend why not add a ribbon to your menus or to your guest chairs.  It’s a gorgeous attention to detail that won't get missed.

Here are our top 10 Bow ideas for 2024 weddings:

Dress

How could we start anywhere else? Just like pockets, bows are HUGE for wedding dresses in 2024 and it’s so obvious to see why.  Bows can be elegant, funky, statement or delicate – it’s up to you how you wear it!

Bridal Headpieces & Accessories

For a truly fantastic hair accessory with a girly twist, you should definitely consider a bow!  From diamante clips to tulle features on veils, your wedding hair style in 2024 can absolutely be tied off with a bow. And it's not just headpieces, think earrings, necklaces, bracelets… a sweet little bow detail is a fabulous addition to your wedding day bling.

Shoes

I know shoes are technically accessories, but I feel like I could write an entire piece just about bows on shoes!  Seriously though, a bow on a shoe or handbag is the CUTEST detail and I am in love with how many brides are embracing this in 2024.

Grooms

It's not just the girls get that get to have all the fun when it comes to bows. Whether its a traditional bowtie, or a small ribbon detail on their buttonhole, guys are totally embracing the 2024 bow trend!

Pets

Fur babies are such a vibe especially at your ceremony.  Whilst big floral garlands and collars may look cute, they can actually cause allergies for animals – not to mention some blooms are downright toxic.  Instead, why not opt for a beautiful bowtie or ribbon to match your theme.  Your furry friend will look absolutely adorable and it’s a fun nod to the bow trend!

Centrepieces

This is one for the true maximalists amongst us!  Tying ribbons to candlesticks is definitely making a bow statement – but there are some things to consider.  Firstly, make sure that the ribbon is tied well away from any flame (the bow is a hot new trend, but we don’t want them to literally catch fire).  Secondly beware the mess!  Slow burn candles are a wedding stylist staple, but drips do happen and splattered wax all over your pretty bows is not a vibe, so make sure they’re tied strategically.

Napkins

Let’s be honest.  This idea has been around forever – and with good reason.  Adding a simple ribbon to your napkins is a lovely feature and a great way to add some colour to the table. Add a personalised menu, and you’ve got a dreamy place setting that is sure to make your guests feel welcomed.

Stationery

A really quirky way to incorporate the bow is to have your stationer draw some!  It’s a really fun way to stay on trend if you’re not too keen on the fussiness of ribbons.

Bouquets

Ribbon details are not only a beautiful element on your bouquet, but they’re functional too!  It’s a great opportunity for you to lean into this trend – and allows for some fab photo ops too!

Chairs

The humble chair works extra hard at weddings and is often undervalued.  But in 2024 the bow trend is bringing chairs to the table (excuse the pun!) with so many versatile décor options.   From ceremony chairs to the dining chairs a small ribbon makes all the difference. Think chair drapes tied with ribbon, simple posies tied to chair backs, a thick satin bow to the side, or even, dare we say it, a lovely, big organza sash tied in a bow at the back.

However you tie it, make sure you get a bow into your 2024 wedding – we promise it’s a trend you won’t regret!
